Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics revealed that the number of unemployed Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip in 2016 jumped to 360500: 206800 unemployed persons in the besieged Gaza Strip and 153700 in the West Bank.
The number of employees in the West Bank and Gaza in 2016 however was estimated at 1341000.
In a statement on Thursday Central Bureau of Statistics pointed out that the unemployment rate in 2016 jumped to 26.9% compared to 25.9% in 2015.
The highest unemployment ranges in 2016 were recorded among the 20-24 age group with 43.2 percentage.
The statement highlighted that 35% of hired workers in the private sector in the West Bank received salaries less than the minimum wage rate ($385). While 69.2% of workers in the Gaza Strip were paid only $200 monthly.
