A group of Israeli settlers Monday broke into al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem under heavy Israeli police protection.
According to Quds Press 22 settlers and 43 soldiers in their military uniforms stormed al-Aqsa Mosque via al-Magharba gate and went on provocative tours around the yards of the Mosque.
Meanwhile Israeli authorities released two of al-Aqsa’s guards after being earlier arrested and subjected to investigation in a nearby Israeli police station.
Earlier Monday a state of tension had prevailed among Palestinian worshipers as Israeli police tried to forcibly install a mobile room in the compound.
