Israeli settlers have escalated their intrusions into the shrines and mausoleums in the town of Kifl Haris in northern Salfit as a prelude for a possible control over the area.
Abdelraheem Buziah village council member told the PIC reporter on Monday 7/2/2017 that Israeli settlers stormed and assaulted Kifl Haris shrines and mausoleums many times recently which doubled the villagers’ fears that the Israeli occupation authorities were planning to take control over the area.
The town of Kifl Haris hosts many religious sites and tombs of prophets such as Dhul-Kifl Jonah Joshua and Elisha among others.
The last two weeks meanwhile witnessed according to Buziah the arrival of a growing number of settlers and rabbis who came to practice their religious rituals which led to a full closure of the village’s entrances and exits.
Kifl Haris is not very far away from the largest Jewish settlement in the West Bank Ariel and that encourages settlers to seek control over those shrines.
