IOA revokes residency of 10 relatives of Jerusalem attacker

Thursday 26-January-2017

The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) on Wednesday decided to strip 10 Palestinian citizens of their right to live in Jerusalem as part of its mass punitive measures against an attacker’s family.

The citizens are relatives of Fadi Qunbar the Palestinian driver who earlier this month killed four soldiers and injured many others in a vehicle-ramming attack in Jerusalem.

According to Israeli media outlets interior minister Aryeh Deri ordered his office to immediately revoke the residency of those 10 citizens and expel them from the holy city.

Deri said in a statement Wednesday that he took this decision after holding hearings for the relatives and consulting with security officials.

However it is still unclear whether Qunbar’s mother whose residency was among those considered earlier for annulment was among the 10.

Fadi Qunbar a resident of the east Jerusalem neighborhood of Jabel Mukaber plowed a truck into a group of soldiers in Jerusalem on January 8.
