Palestinian activists in Um al-Hairan village in Negev on Saturday erected a sit-in tent close to Israeli police headquarters in demand for returning the body of martyr Yakoub Abu al-Qian to his family.
Raed Abu al-Qian head of the local committee in Um al-Hairan village told Quds Press that the family of the martyr along with the people of the village refuse Israeli conditions and insist on conducting a decent funeral at day time.
The Israeli conditions include confining the participants in the martyr’s funeral to a small number and to conduct it at night as well as making the family sign on a paper of recognition that their son carried out an anti-occupation car-ramming attack. The family however denied the Israeli allegations saying that he was killed for nothing.
Martyr Abu al-Qian 47 was killed by Israeli forces after alleged anti-occupation car-ramming attack resulting in the death of a policeman. Injuries among residents were reported in clashes between Palestinians and Israeli policemen after Israeli forces razed Palestinians’ homes in the village on Wednesday.
