Thursday 19-January-2017

Two Arab Knesset members of the Joint List suffered injuries when Israeli policemen assaulted them during the events that happened on Wednesday in the Negev village of Umm al-Hiran.

According to a Palestinian Information Center (PIC) reporter Israeli policemen assaulted Knesset member Osama Saadi and wounded him during the violent clashes that broke out as a result of the Israeli demolition campaign in Umm al-Hiran.

Earlier Knesset member Ayman Odeh was badly hurt as well during the police wanton attack on protesters in the village.

In this regard the Joint List a political alliance of four Arab parties has warned the Israeli government of dire consequences to result from its demolition campaign against Arab villages in the Negev accusing it of seeking to replace these villages with Jewish-only town.

In a press release the Joint List said that “the military invasion of Umm al-Hiran village by police forces was a wanton deadly terror attack that evoked scenes of the Zionist displacement and destruction of Arab villages during the 1948 Nakba (catastrophe).”

“The police acted like they were on a battlefield and its actions led to confrontations the death of young man Yaqoub Abul Qi’aan and the injury of many others” it added.

“Netanyahu’s government has declared an actual military war against our people inside the green line started it with Qalansuwa demolitions and continue to do the same in Umm al-Hiran.”

“It fights and kills our sons who are striving to survive and live a decent life” it said.
