IOF closes Huwara and Beit Leed checkpoints

Wednesday 18-January-2017

The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) abruptly closed on Wednesday evening Huwara checkpoint south of Nablus city and hindered the movement in and out of the city. At the same time two Israeli helicopters flew over the eastern and southern areas of Nablus.

Palestinian drivers at the scene said that long queues of vehicles are still waiting on both sides of the checkpoint and no reasons for this Israeli action were provided.

Meanwhile the IOF continued on Wednesday the closure of Beit Leed checkpoint and denied the Palestinian citizens entry and exit since the martyrdom of Nidal Mihdawi yesterday.

Local sources told the PIC reporter that the Israeli soldiers closed the checkpoint and prevented the Palestinian workers and citizens from approaching it until further notice which disrupted the citizens’ movement.

The IOF killed yesterday Nedal Mihdawi over alleged stabbing attack at the checkpoint also known as checkpoint 104 where the Palestinians of 1948 occupied territories and workers pass through.

The Israeli authorities did not tell when the checkpoint will be opened.
