A Palestinian official revealed that Palestinian businessmen received an invitation from Egyptian officials to attend and discuss the results of Ain Sokhna second conference.
Osama Kuhail Palestinian Contractors Union head stated that they received an invitation from Egyptian officials to discuss implementing the recommendations of the conference held last November.
Kuhail speculated that the visit will take place once Rafah border is opened which is next week noting that the issues that will be discussed include means of improving Gaza economic situation in addition to ways to implement the conference’s recommendations.
“We will discuss the movement of individuals businesses the entry of goods through the Rafah crossing in addition to establishing mechanisms for implementing the industrial free zone between Egypt and Gaza and importing and exporting through the Rafah crossing” he added.
The Palestinian delegation will consist of at least five private sector representatives from the Union of Contractors Business Association the Chamber of Commerce and the Palestinian Federation of Industries he explained.
Kuhail called all the Palestinian parties to exert all possible efforts to bring Gaza back to life through opening Rafah border crossing and providing basic needs.
“It is not acceptable for any Palestinian party to stand in the way of opening Rafah terminal and rebuilding Gaza” he said.
Around 120 Palestinian businessmen participated in Ain Sokhna second conference which discussed the economic relations between the Gaza Strip and Egypt.
The participants suggested opening Rafah border crossing in both directions according to a gradual plan while taking into account Egyptian security needs as well as rehabilitating the border crossing.
The participants also called in the conference held in Ain Sokhna for increasing Gaza electricity supply.
