Tuesday 3-January-2017

The Israeli foreign intelligence agency the Mossad published on Tuesday an advertisement urging Israeli women to enlist in its ranks.

The advertisement declares “We seek a strong woman. We don’t care what you’ve done. What matters to us is who you are. The Mossad seeks female intelligent officers with exceptional characters”.

According to the Anadolu press agency the advertisement which shows a portrait of a young woman in black and white and with unclear features is one of the rare advertisements by the Israeli Mossad which is specialized in spying and conducting special operations such as assassinations.

It states that the enrollees should have the ability “to perform highly and work under pressure and in conditions of uncertainty” in addition to mastering improvisation skills noting that that the work involves emergency activities and missions outside the country.

Ofir Gendelman the spokesman of the Israel Prime Minister’s office also published the advertisement on his Twitter account in Arabic.

Yossi Cohen director of the Mossad reports directly to the office of the Israeli Prime Minister.

The Israeli agency’s website has Arabic English Farsi French and Russian versions in addition to the Hebrew one.

Many women were hired over the history of the Mossad which was established in 1949 to carry out its missions.

A report by the Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth on Tuesday said that Tzipi Livni the former Foreign Minister of Israel and the current senior member of the largest opposition party “The Zionist Union” is the most famous female agent of the Mossad who served in the period between 1980- 1984.

The paper added that women make up to 40% of the agents working for the Mossad 24% of whom occupy high-ranking positions.
