Head of Hamas’s political bureau Ismail Haneyya has revealed that the leadership of al-Qassam Brigades the armed wing of Hamas has possessed what he described as a “security treasure” following the failed Israeli infiltration operation in Khan Younis (southern Gaza).
Haneyya made his remarks on Sunday during a popular festival staged in Gaza to mark the 31st founding anniversary of Hamas.
“Significant and important security and technical assets have become in the hands of al-Qassam technical team and they will contribute to understanding the mechanisms used by such [Israeli] special forces that had carried out operations in several places and countries” he said.
He affirmed that al-Qassam Brigades succeeded in obtaining accurate information about the last Israeli operation that was carried out by Israeli special forces in Khan Younis describing the security assets it had obtained as priceless and useful in managing “the brain warfare” against the occupation in the next stage.
He pointed out that al-Qassam Brigades would reveal more details about the Khan Younis operation in the upcoming days.
He said that the last confrontation between the Palestinian resistance in Gaza and the Israeli occupation army was a turning point in the management of the military conflict with the Israeli side.
The Hamas official also said that during the recent tension al-Qassam Brigades and other resistance groups had unveiled a small part of their military capability when they responded to Israel’s bombing of civilian facilities and homes.
In another context Haneyya highlighted the issue of the Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails paying tribute to them and reiterating his Movement’s vow to extract their freedom.
“From the land of Gaza we want to say to our prisoners that your liberation is our responsibility and a promise we have to fulfill” he said.
He also talked about the March of Return rallies in Gaza saying the weekly popular protests managed to score strategic points the first one was the strong message sent by the Palestinian people against the US-backed deal of the century and about their determination to confront it by all means.
The blockade on Gaza was also brought to the fore thanks to the March of Return rallies he added.
In his speech Haneyya praised the sacrifices made by the Palestinians in the West Bank to defend their national cause and protect Jerusalem and the Aqsa Mosque and saluted in particular the families of the martyrs who died recently.
He expressed his belief that the escalating West Bank resistance operations were in response to all the daily arrests crimes and acts of humiliation which the Palestinians are exposed to by the Israeli occupation and to the attempt to make the West Bank and Jerusalem a springboard and corridor to implement the deal of the century.
He refuted claims that the recent anti-occupation attacks that took place in the West Bank were orchestrated by the Palestinian resistance in Gaza stressing that the Palestinians in the West Bank do not need any directives or commands from any side.
