The Grand Mufti of occupied Jerusalem and the Palestinian territories Sheikh Mohamed Husain condemned in the strongest terms Israel’s confiscation of dozens of dunums of land owned by the Latin Church in the northern Jordan Valley.
In a Wednesday statement Husain said such a land grab policy falls in line with Israel’s settlement schemes backed up by the US administration and carried out at the expense of Palestinian land and rights.
Husain held the Israeli occupation authorities and the biased US administration responsible for the soaring tensions rocking the entire region.
He called on the concerned institutions and international community to take urgent action in order to rein in Israel’s illegal settlement expansion and pressurize the occupation authorities to abide by international resolutions.
