Secretary general of the Islamic Jihad Ziad al-Nakhala on Wednesday arrived in Cairo upon the request of Egyptian officials.
Islamic Jihad spokesman Mus’ab al-Breim told Anadolu Agency that al-Nakhala travelled to Cairo at an Egyptian invitation to discuss the current Palestinian situation.
A Palestinian official speaking on condition of anonymity told Anadolu Agency that the discussion will focus on ceasefire talks with Israel.
The Israeli occupation army on 12 November launched a military operation on the Gaza Strip killing seven Palestinians. Gaza resistance groups responded by firing rockets toward the Israeli settlements neighboring the seaside area.
