Extremist Israeli settlers attack Palestinian workers

Saturday 10-November-2018

A horde of fanatic Israeli settlers attacked at noontime Saturday members of the Palestinian municipality in al-Khalil’s Old City in the southern occupied West Bank.

Reporting from the city a PIC news correspondent said a crowd of Israeli settlers came down heavily on municipal workers while they were carrying out sanitation maintenance in al-Kazazeen popular market after rain downpours flooded the area.

Following an altercation between the two groups the Israelis attacked the workers and violently beat them up resulting in injuries and bruises.

An Israeli army patrol showed up in the area to protect the Israeli assailants and prevented the municipality staff members from carrying out maintenance works.

Settler violence against Palestinians and their property is routine in the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by the Israeli occupation authorities.

Settlers’ violence includes property and mosque arsons stone-throwing uprooting of crops and olive trees attacks on vulnerable homes among others.

Between 500000 and 600000 Israelis live in Jewish-only settlements across the occupied Palestinian territories in violation of international law.

All settlements across the West Bank are illegal under international law particularly article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention which establishes that the occupying power shall not deport or forcibly transfer civilian population in territory it occupies.
