Hayya: Efforts to break Gaza siege going well

Friday 2-November-2018

Member of Hamas’s Political Bureau Khalil al-Hayya on Friday said that efforts to break the Israeli blockade on the Gaza Strip are going well.

Speaking at the Great March of Return east of Gaza city al-Hayya said that the border protests will continue until they achieve their goals.

Al-Hayya explained that the Great March of Return is mainly aimed at shedding light of the Palestinian refugees’ right of return and breaking the siege which has been imposed on the Gaza Strip for over a decade.

The Hamas official pointed out that the efforts made by Egypt Qatar and the United Nations to pressure Israel to lift the siege on Gaza have achieved a great success without giving further details.

Many Palestinian and Israeli sources have talked about a noticeable progress in the ongoing talks aiming to end Gaza siege.

The Israeli occupation authorities on Wednesday decided to expand the fishing area in Gaza sea to 9 nautical miles while an improvement has been noted in the electricity distribution schedule after Qatari fuel was supplied to Gaza’s sole power plant.

Palestinians in the Gaza Strip on Friday took part in the protests of the Great March of Return for the 32nd week in a row. The Israeli army since 30 March has killed over 215 peaceful protesters and injured about 23000 others.
