Megiddo jailers medically neglect two Palestinian minors

Thursday 4-October-2018

The Palestinian Commission of Detainees’ and Ex-Detainees’ Affairs has accused the Israeli administration of Megiddo jail of medically neglecting two Palestinian children under age 18 who suffer from serious health conditions.

According to the commission 17-year-old Louay Aliyan from Issawiya in Jerusalem has been suffering from Mediterranean fever for years which causes him breathing problems and constant abdominal chest and head pains and thus needs special medical care.

Aliyan has been in detention since April 22 2018 and his presence in jail contributes to worsening his health condition.

As for Harbi al-Harbi a 16-year-old from Silwad in Jerusalem the commission says he suffers from diabetes and his health conditions has become much worse in Megiddo jail.

He has been in detention since July 10 2018 and Israeli jailers do not provide him with proper medical care.

Harbi had been beaten and abused by Israeli officers immediately after his detention in Maskubiya detention center in Jerusalem according to the commission.
