Sheikh Mohamed Hussein Grand Mufti of Palestine and Jerusalem has strongly denounced the recent Israeli violations at the Islamic holy sites in Jerusalem and al-Khalil at the pretext of Jewish holidays.
In a statement on Wednesday Sheikh Hussein said that the closure of the Ibrahimi Mosque before Muslim worshipers and the persistent desecration of the Aqsa Mosque by Jewish settlers violate the international law that protect freedom of worship and the access of worshipers to their own holy sites.
“The occupation (Israel) secures the desecration of the Aqsa and Ibrahimi Mosque through allowing provocative rituals roistering dancing singing and having alcoholic drinks in their courtyards amid tight guard” the Mufti added.
He pointed out that such acts of desecration at the Mosques by Jewish settlers occur as the Israeli police impose restrictions on the entry of Muslims to the holy sites or arrest them at their entrances.
