Monday 27-August-2018

Israeli occupation authorities on Monday reopened Beit Hanoun (Erez) crossing based on a decision by Israel’s War Minister Avigdor Lieberman.

According to Hebrew TV channel 14 Lieberman on Sunday evening said that the crossing would be opened Monday due to “calm that has been maintained over the past week”.

It reported that Israel will be presenting a series of projects to improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza during a special meeting in Brussels next week with the participation of representatives of the Israeli government the Palestinian Authority and the United Nations.

The Hebrew channel noted that some of these projects were approved in the past but never came into force.

Israeli occupation authorities about a week ago closed Beit Hanoun crossing the only crossing between Israel and Gaza that is allocated for the travel of people over the protests and demonstrations that have flared up at Gaza ‘s eastern border.

Israel has newly reopened Karam Abu Salem crossing after it closed it for over a month and banned the entry of goods and raw materials into the Gaza Strip as part of a blockade imposed on the enclave since 2007.

Since the start of the Great March of Return along Gaza’s border with the 1948 occupied territories 170 Palestinians have been killed by the Israeli army and over 18000 injured.
