The Israeli minister of religious services David Azulai stormed on Monday afternoon the Ibrahimi Mosque in al-Khalil to the south of West Bank under tight military protection.
The Palestinian Minister of Awqaf and Religious Affairs Youssef Adais strongly condemned the inprecedent incident considering the move a serious attack on Muslims’ religious feelings and a flagrant violation to the Mosque’s sanctity.
This attack came as part of Israeli suspicious and ongoing attempts to impose full control over the Ibrahimi Mosque he said.
Adais called on the Palestinian people to intensify their presence in the Mosque and to stand firmly against such Israeli violations which have been notably escalated after the holy month of Ramadan.
The Palestinian Minister also called on the UNESCO to protect the site as it was included in its World Heritage List.
