Sinwar: Coming days will see major popular rallies and events in Gaza

Tuesday 22-May-2018

Hamas chief in Gaza Yahya al-Sinwar has said the Higher National Commission for March of Return and the resistance factions are working on developing a blanket program of major popular rallies and events for the upcoming days and weeks.

In an interview conducted by al-Mayadeen satellite channel on Monday Sinwar said that the March of Return rallies achieved a set of strategic objectives and managed to build a bulwark against all plots aimed at liquidating the Palestinian cause and bring the right of return back to the memory of the Arab and Islamic nations.

The Hamas leader stressed that the Palestinian people chose the path of popular resistance and peaceful protest after the situation around them imposed this option on them at this particular stage but he affirmed that the armed resistance is one of many options that are still on the table.

He pointed out to plans to stage popular rallies and events in the coming days and next month to mark different occasions and incidents including the anniversary of Mavi Marmara tragedy the Naksa Day and al-Quds Day.

Sinwar also replied to a question on recent Israeli threats to assassinate senior Hamas officials in Gaza saying that their lives would not be more precious than the life of any martyr who gave his or her soul cheaply for the sake of the homeland and holy sites.

He denied there was an agreement between his Movement and Cairo to stop the March of Return rallies in Gaza asserting that the rallies would continue until the Palestinian people achieved their goals fully.

However he warned that the resistance in Gaza has the means to respond to any intended military aggression by the Israeli occupation army affirming that there would be many military surprises for Israel if it thought to wage another war.
