Several Palestinians were kidnapped by the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) at daybreak Sunday in abduction sweeps rocking the West Bank and Jerusalem.
The Israeli military claimed in a statement responsibility for the abduction of five Palestinians on account of involvement in anti-occupation activities.
Israeli soldiers also seized thousands of shekels of Palestinian-owned cash on claims that they were about to be funneled to anti-occupation organizations.
An Israeli patrol stormed al-Khalil’s northern town of Beit Ummar at the crack of dawn and kidnapped three Palestinian ex-prisoners before dragging them to the Etzion detention center north of Beit Ummar.
A Palestinian was injured in his leg with rubber bullets fired by the IOF during the assault.
The occupation soldiers reportedly targeted Palestinian homes with heavy spates of live ammunition rubber bullets and teargas canisters.
At the same time a Palestinian citizen was kidnapped by the IOF from his family home in Deir al-Hatab village east of Nablus.
20 Israeli military patrols rolled into Asira al-Shamaliya Street in Nablus and wreaked havoc on civilian homes.
The campaign culminated in the abduction of three Palestinians among them two brothers from the Darwish family from Jerusalem’s eastern town of al-Issawiya.
Local sources also said two young men were kidnapped by the Israeli forces from the African neighborhood adjacent to holy al-Aqsa Mosque as they took part in street decorations in preparation for Ramadan Month.
Meanwhile the IOF closed off a thoroughfare connecting Ramallah and al-Jalazoun refugee camp to the north under the security pretext. The access road has been sealed off with concrete blocks.
