A meeting was held recently at Dead Sea between ministers from Jordan the Palestinian Authority (PA) Israel and Japan to discuss trade cooperation.
According to Israel Hayom newspaper on Monday the meeting was organized last Sunday by Japan and was attended by its foreign minister Taro Kono Jordan’s planning minister Imad Fakhoury PA foreign minister Riyad al-Maliki and Israel’s economy minister Eli Cohen.
Sunday’s meeting focused on the Japan-backed Jericho agri-industrial park in the occupied West Bank near an Israeli-controlled border with Jordan. Twelve companies operate at the park launched more than a decade ago. Kono expressed hope that more would join including Japanese firms.
The industrial zone was set up by Japan as part of the Corridor for Peace and Prosperity Initiative aimed at promoting economic cooperation between Israel the Palestinians and Jordan the newspaper said.
