Israel’s Supreme Court ruled that Khan al-Ahmar Bedouin community east of Occupied Jerusalem evacuate their homes in the next few days pending their relocation.
The community’s spokesperson Eid Jahaleen said the Israeli court ordered the transfer of the Khan al-Ahmar Bedouins to Bawabat al-Shams Mount.
Jahaleen added that European envoys attended the court hearing held on Wednesday. The court delayed its final verdict until Thursday and called for providing alternative homes to Khan al-Ahmar Bedouins. In case the latter option is rejected by the official authorities the residents will be displaced to Bawabat al-Shams Mount.
Israeli occupation authorities have issued dozens of stop-construction and demolition orders threatening nearly every structure in Khan al-Ahmar. Among the affected structures is a primary school made of tires and mud which was built with the support of international donors and serves around 170 children from Bedouin communities in the area.
