Hamas Movement on Saturday strongly denounced the Palestinian Authority (PA) president Mahmoud Abbas’s remarks in which he asked Hamas to hand over its arsenal to the PA.
Member of the Hamas Political Bureau Mousa Abu Marzouk in Twitter statements on Saturday said that the US president Donald Trump’s envoy has asked Hamas to relinquish its control of Gaza and hand over its weapons to the PA in order to join the “real world”.
Abu Marzouk added “This is the request of the Israeli occupation too but why does Abbas demand the same thing?”
“It is a free service to our enemy just like security coordination” he stressed.
At the opening of the Fatah Central Committee meeting in Ramallah last Sunday Abbas said that the PA government will not be responsible for what happens in the Gaza Strip as long as Hamas refuses to hand over full control over the enclave including security and weapons to the PA.
Trump’s special representative for international negotiations Jason Greenblatt said on Twitter on Thursday “Hamas must relinquish its control of Gaza to the PA and disarm.”
“If Hamas wants to join the real world it must renounce violence recognize Israel and decide to abide by past agreements. It’s time for Hamas to make some real decisions” he added.
