Former minister for Palestinian prisoners’ affairs in Israeli prisons Wasfi Qubaha stressed the importance of administrative detainees’ decision to boycott Israeli courts as a protest step against their illegal detention.
The prisoners’ move came in rejection of the sharp increase of administrative detention orders holing them captive without charges or trial in addition to constant violations against them he said.
They are also seeking to expose these Israeli violations at the international human rights organizations he continued.
Any decision would be taken in the absence of the prisoner and his lawyer will be an additional condemnation of the Israeli courts the former minister clarified.
In this regard he stressed the urgent need to escalate the official and popular support to the administrative detainees’ protest steps.
He also called for activating their issue and exposing Israeli injustice at international forums.
Hundreds of administrative detainees are still boycotting Israeli military courts for nearly a month demanding basic rights.
There are currently 450 administrative detainees in Israeli lock-ups some of whom have had their detention renewed several times and some others have been incarcerated for 14 straight years without charge or trial.
