Gaza: Women protest power crisis call for solution

Wednesday 28-February-2018

Dozens of women and housewives on Tuesday rallied outside the power plant in the Gaza Strip in protest at the worsening electricity crisis and the Palestinian Authority’s (PA) reluctance to solve the problem.

The ladies carried placards denouncing the inhumane blockade on Gaza and the Palestinian Authority’s indifference to their suffering from prolonged power blackouts.

One of the participants said that the power crisis disrupted its daily household responsibilities pointing out that the failure to operate the refrigerator leads to food spoilage.

She held the PA leadership fully responsible for the crisis and called on it to step down if it could not fulfill its duties towards Gaza.

In a speech during the sit-in senior Hamas official Yousef Farhat called on the world’s free people to support Gaza and pressure the besieging parties to end their sanctions on the population.

He also urged the local and international media outlets to highlight the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza which claimed the lives of children and deprived patients of receiving proper treatment.
