Palestinian Authority president Mahmoud Abbas met on Tuesday in Ramallah with Qatari envoy Mohamed al-Emadi head of the Gaza reconstruction committee and discussed with him several issues of mutual interest.
During the meeting Emadi affirmed that the dire humanitarian situation in the besieged Gaza Strip prompted Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to intervene to provide nine million dollars in relief funding to support the health sector buy food supplies for the population and help university students.
In a press release the Qatari envoy said that his meeting with Abbas was positive asserting that Sheikh Tamim gave directives to stand by the Palestinian people and their leadership and provide them with all means of support under the current circumstances.
