Holy Sepulcher to reopen doors on Wednesday

Tuesday 27-February-2018

Church leaders decided on Tuesday evening to reopen the door to the Holy Sepulcher starting from Wednesday after Israel suspended a decision to tax churches in occupied Jerusalem.

In a statement issued Tuesday the Church officials said that following the suspension of an Israeli decision to tax the churches for their property it was decided to reopen the church for pilgrims and visitors at 4:00 am Wednesday.

The decision came only few hours after Israeli municipal authorities in occupied Jerusalem suspended a plan to impose taxes on properties owned by Christian churches.

As a result Roman Catholic Greek Orthodox and leaders of other Christian denominations closed the famed church on Sunday to protest the Israeli decision.
