Palestinian health undersecretary Yousef Abul-Reesh has warned that the health situation in the impoverished Gaza Strip has become extremely critical and difficult after medicinal and fuel supplies at the government’s hospitals and medical centers almost ran out.
“The continuous depletion of the remaining resources without a prospect for meeting the needs portends a difficult and unprecedented period in which many important and vital health services may stop” Abul-Reesh stated on Thursday during a meeting held by the central emergency committee at the health ministry.
According to him 45 percent of medicines in the ministry’s warehouses became out of stock and all medical facilities almost ran out of fuel supplies needed to operate generators.
He appealed to all competent authorities to take quick measures to provide permanent solutions to the problems which the health system in Gaza suffers from and not just to make do with temporary solutions.
