The Twitter account of Dore Gold president of the right-wing Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs and former director-general of Israel’s foreign ministry was hacked last Saturday by a Turkish cyber group.
Gold also served in the past in various official positions including as an adviser to Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu and ambassador to the UN.
According to Israel Hayom newspaper the hackers who call themselves “the Turkish cyber army” posted statements in support of Turkey and Palestine.
The hacktivists were able to post several remarks on behalf of Gold including a posting stating his support for the current Turkish military operation on the border with Syria.
They also attributed remarks to Gold rejecting the US recognition of Occupied Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.
Alongside an emoji of a Palestinian flag the hacktivists posted remarks saying “Jerusalem cannot be the capital of Israel! Because Jerusalem is holy to Muslims and is the land of Palestine.”
