Palestinian teachers who have been suspended by UNRWA held a sit-in on Wednesday at Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in protest at UNRWA’s resolution to suspend 158 teachers of diploma degree holders.
The protesters carried banners demanding the cancellation of the unfair decision. Meanwhile Arab Workers Union at UNRWA closed the main gates to the headquarters of UNRWA’s presidency for the second day in a row.
Jamal Abdullah member of the union said that the closure of the UNRWA’s presidency headquarters in the West Bank and Occupied Jerusalem came after Director of UNRWA Operations in the West Bank Scott Anderson refused all solutions and insisted on the suspension decision which was even made without indemnities for the affected employees.
