Movement: Gaza is facing disastrous humanitarian crisis

Tuesday 16-January-2018

The National Movement to Break the Siege on Monday said that the Gaza Strip is witnessing a severe humanitarian crisis due to the Israeli tightening of the blockade the Palestinian Authority’s (PA) refusal to lift the sanctions imposed on Gaza and the long closures of Rafah crossing.

The Movement said in a statement that it was shocked by the speech delivered by the PA president Mahmoud Abbas during the Palestinian Central Council meeting held on Sunday.

It explained that Abbas ignored the suffering of two million Palestinians in Gaza and claimed that the people of Gaza receive adequate amounts of power while they actually suffer from 14-hour-long outages per day.

The National Movement continued that this speech indicates that Abbas either knows nothing about what is going on in the Gaza Strip or is determined to prolong the collective punishment imposed on the Palestinian citizens living there.

The Movement asked Abbas to apologize for his disregard of the suffering of the Gazan people and held him along with the PA government fully responsible for the humanitarian crisis plaguing the besieged Gaza Strip.
