Dean of the Tunisian Order of Lawyers Amer al-Mehrazi on Friday said that legal actions will be made by Arab lawyers to support Jerusalem defend its Arab identity and fight normalization with Israel.
This was voiced during a seminar held by the Tunisian Order of Lawyers under the title “Jerusalem is the eternal capital of Palestine”.
Mehrazi called for establishing a popular fund in all Arab countries to back the Palestinian people in Jerusalem holding a conference for Arab businessmen and jurists for the same purpose and forming a committee of Arab lawyers against normalization with Israel.
He also called for imposing sanctions on the Israeli occupation and supporting the international Boycott Divestment and Sanctions movement (BDS) on the popular and official levels until Israel comply with international humanitarian law.
Mehrazi stressed the need to prepare a new UN Security Council draft resolution to exclude the US from the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and to develop a legal strategy to confront the recent US recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
For his part the Palestinian ambassador to Tunisia Hayel al-Fahoum said that it is important to take the proposals set by Arab lawyers into consideration adding that it is time to move from reaction to action.
