Arab League condemns Brazil for opening trade mission in J’lem

Friday 20-December-2019

The Arab League has denounced Brazil for opening a trade representation office in the occupied city of Jerusalem.

After meeting at the request of Palestine the Arab organization rejected the move in a statement on Thursday.

Brazil is the latest country to open a representation mission in Jerusalem following Hungary in March and Honduras in September.

The opening of embassies and commercial offices in the occupied holy city has sparked outrage and protests across the Muslim world especially in Palestine.

In late 2017 US president Donald Trump unilaterally recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel triggering worldwide condemnations.

Later Washington relocated its embassy in Tel Aviv to Jerusalem with Guatemala following suit.

The Palestinians see such steps as “against their aspiration for an independent state with a capital in Occupied Jerusalem.”
