Israeli occupation forces on Sunday evening violently suppressed a protest staged by students from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in solidarity with Gaza.
Local sources said that the Israeli forces assaulted the protesters with batons dispersed them by force and arrested a number of them.
They added that a group of Israeli settlers joined the soldiers in beating the protesters.
The Israeli occupation army last week waged a large-scale military assault on the Gaza Strip killing 34 Palestinians injuring 111 and damaging about 500 homes.
Violent confrontations broke out at the same time of the protest in Silwan town in Jerusalem between Israeli occupation forces and Palestinian youths.
Local residents said that the Israeli forces heavily fired stun grenades and rubber-coated metal bullets at the youths but no injuries were reported.
