Qatar on Friday strongly denounced the government of Honduras’s decision to open a diplomatic office in Jerusalem marking the start of moving its embassy in Israel to the holy city instead of Tel Aviv.
Qatar described the move as a deviation from the international consensus embodied in the United Nations General Assembly’s refusal to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.
The government of Honduras on Thursday announced that president Juan Orlando Hernández was set to visit Israel on Friday to inaugurate a “diplomatic office” in Jerusalem which the country recognizes as the capital of Israel.
