7 Palestinian administrative detainees on hunger strike

Seven Palestinian prisoners have been on open hunger strike in protest at their administrative detention in Israeli jails.

The Palestinian Prisoners Center for Studies said most of the hunger strikers are suffering from serious health problems especially Ja’far Ezz el-Din 48 who has been on hunger strike for 35 days.

In addition to Ezz el-Din Ahmad Zahran Mohammed Abu Akar Mustafa al-Hasanat Huthaifa Halabiya Hasan al-Zaghari and Mohammed al-Zaghari have been on hunger strike for 10-20 days in protest at their detention administratively without charge or trial.

The Palestinian Prisoners Center for Studies held Israel responsible for the life of the hunger-striking detainees and called on human rights organizations to intervene immediately to save their lives.

According to official statistics there are 5700 Palestinians in Israeli lock-ups including 48 women 230 children 500 administrative detainees and 700 prisoners with health issues.
