The Hamas Movement said that the Egyptian security delegation visited Gaza as part of its efforts to pressure the Israeli side to honor the recent understandings that had been reached to break the blockade on the coastal enclave.
Hamas spokesman Abdul-Latif al-Qanoua told the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) that the Egyptian delegation was making efforts to convey the demands of the Palestinians in Gaza to the Israeli side and to have the recent understandings over Gaza implemented.
“The Egyptian delegation has intensified its efforts to spare the area any Israeli escalation” Qanoua said.
In this regard an informed source told the PIC that the visiting Egyptian delegation met with the leadership of Hamas and officials from others factions.
Recent months have seen Egyptian officials engage in intense shuttle diplomacy between Gaza the Israeli-occupied West Bank and Israel where they have held talks with Hamas members of the Palestinian government and Israeli officials respectively.
