The Jordanian Ministry of Awqaf And Islamic Affairs has affirmed that Bab al-Rahma prayer area is an integral part of the Aqsa Mosque and cannot be negotiated divided or shared.
In a statement the ministry denounced Israel’s escalation of its measures against the Islamic Awqaf Council in Occupied Jerusalem describing its practices as “systematic targeting” and “an outright attack on Jordan’s Hashemite custodianship of Jerusalem Islamic and Christian holy sites.”
“The occupation authorities’ decision to banish head of the Jerusalem Awqaf Council Sheikh Abdul-Adheem Salhab for 40 days and Jerusalem Awqaf deputy director Sheikh Najeh Bukairat for four months and the interrogation of others in Israeli centers are reprehensible practices and a renewed escalation aimed at disrupting the work of the Jerusalem Awqaf administration and intimidating members of the Awqaf Council which was recently reconstituted by the Jordanian cabinet” minister of Awqaf Abdul-Naser Abu Basal stated.
