Extremist Israeli settlers on Thursday spray-painted racist graffiti and slashed tires of several vehicles in the villages of al-Janiya and Ras Karkar west of the city of Ramallah in the central occupied West Bank.
Anti-settlement activist Ayed Madhloum said Israeli settlers sneaked into the area damaged tires of 10 Palestinian vehicles and spray-painted racist and anti-Arab slogans.
Israeli settler violence against Palestinians and their property is routine in the occupied West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli authorities. It includes property and mosque arsons stone-throwing uprooting of crops and olive trees attacks on vulnerable homes among others.
Between 500000 and 600000 Israelis live in illegal settlements built on Palestinian land across occupied Jerusalem and the occupied West Bank in violation of international law.
International organizations have reported a sharp rise in recent years in acts of terrorism by Israel’s settler gangs most notoriously the so-called Price Tag gang against Palestinian civilians and property in the occupied Palestinian territories.
