The Hamas delegation led by its political chief Ismail Haneyya on Tuesday discussed issues of mutual interest with minister of intelligence Abbas Kamel and highlighted the need to promote the bilateral relations between the two sides.
In a press release the Hamas Movement said that the two sides asserted the importance of Egypt’s historic role in supporting the Palestinian cause and the need to maintain this role until the Palestinian people achieve their aspirations for liberation and independence.
The two sides expressed keenness on continuing the efforts to upgrade the mutual relations in order to serve the Palestinian people and the common interests.
They also discussed the political situation in the Palestinian arena and the region and the dangers facing Occupied Jerusalem as well as the issue of the Palestinian refugees the blockade imposed on Gaza Israel’s settlement activities and the suffering of the Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails.
The meeting highlighted in particular the dire economic and humanitarian situation in Gaza as a result of the Israeli blockade.
