Erdogan: Turkey will continue supporting the Palestinian people

Sunday 3-February-2019

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Saturday that his country will continue to stand by the Palestinian people and will not turn its back to their cause.

During his meeting with Arab legislators in the Israeli parliament Erdogan reiterated Ankara’s commitment to support the Palestinian people with all possible means.

Anadolu Agency quoted sources in the Turkish presidency as saying that Ankara is using all its potentials to seek an end to the occupation and achieve peace and stability in Palestine.

“We will continue to use all the capabilities at our hands with our Palestinian brothers” Erdogan said.

He thanked Arab MPs for their vigilance to the “Israeli injustice against the Gaza Strip the Jewish State Law and the false allegations against Turkey.”

The Turkish president stressed that the Jewish State Law approved by the Knesset severely violates the rights of Palestinians who hold the nationality of Israel.

The Jewish State Law was passed by the Knesset in July 2018. It states that “the right to self-determination in Israel is limited to Jews and migration that grants citizenship is for Jews only.”

The law states that greater and unified Jerusalem is the capital of Israel and that Hebrew is the official language of the state which is a clear discrimination in favor of Jews against others.
