Israel’s police chief Yoram Halevy stormed on Thursday Jerusalem’s holy al-Aqsa Mosque heading a group of Israeli occupation soldiers who participated in the 1967 war against the Palestinians.
Jerusalem’s Awqaf Department said Israeli special forces rolled into al-Aqsa Mosque via the Maghareba Gate and cracked down on the Muslim worshipers.
Yoram Halevy accompanied 85 Israeli soldier veterans who took part in the occupation of Jerusalem and al-Aqsa in 1967. 41 fanatic settlers also showed up in the break-in.
Tension has been running high at and around the holy site amid fears that the Mosque would be turned into a military barrack by the Israeli police and extremist settlers.
