The Israeli occupation forces on Sunday threatened the demolition of the home of Palestinian prisoner Assem Barghouthi charged with involvement in an anti-occupation attack.
Assem’s aunt Hanan said Israeli occupation forces rolled into Ramallah’s northwestern village of Kober at the crack of dawn and broke into the family home before they notified of their intent to reduce the building into rubble.
The Israeli occupation authorities held prisoner Assem Barghouthi accountable for an anti-occupation shooting attack carried out near Givat Assaf settlement outpost built on occupied Palestinian land east of Ramallah. The attack was carried out just one day after his brother Saleh was assassinated by the Israeli military.
Assem had been chased down by the occupation forces for nearly one month. He was arrested a couple of weeks ago in Abu Shkeidema village northwest of Ramallah. He has been subjected to harsh investigation.
Barghouthi’s father Omar and brother Assef were kidnapped by the Israeli army following Saleh’s murder and have been sentenced administratively with neither charge nor trial in Israeli occupation jails. Their third brother Muhammad was arrested two days before Assem’s detention.
