Hayya: Resistance to respect siege talks as long as Israel does

Friday 11-January-2019

Member of Hamas’s political bureau Khalil al-Hayya on Friday said that Palestinian resistance groups in Gaza are committed to the siege understandings as long as Israel is.

In press statements to the PIC following meetings with the Egyptian delegation in the Gaza Strip al-Hayya said “We discussed the latest Israeli violations in Gaza and stressed the need for implementing the reached understandings.”

“The Egyptian delegation vowed to pressure Israel to abide by these agreements” he added.

As for the Rafah crossing crisis al-Hayya said quoting the Egyptian delegation that the border crossing will remain open for the travel of Palestinians in both directions.

He continued “Our concern is not a crossing here or there but we need to get out of the current situation through consensus and partnership without exclusion or monopoly.”

The Hamas leader stressed that the “Palestinian house” should be reformed on the basis of the 2011 Cairo agreement.

Al-Hayya said on the expected visit by the head of Hamas’s political bureau Ismail Haneyya to Russia that the visit will be delayed for a short time for technical reasons.
