The Higher National Committee for the Great March of Return and Breaking the Siege on Monday called on the Palestinian Authority (PA) to backtrack on its decision to withdraw staff from Rafah border crossing with Egypt.
The committee in a press statement asked Egypt to immediately intervene and pressure the PA to reverse its decision which would complicate the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.
The committee said “National and moral responsibility requires us to do our duties and support our people and not to rush to make decisions that would complicate the situation at a time when we are in need of unity more than ever.”
“We call on Egypt to continue its unremitting efforts to achieve Palestinian reconciliation and to open Rafah crossing for the crucial role it plays in the lives of 2300000 Palestinians in besieged Gaza” it concluded.
