Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) has held the Israeli Prison Service (IPS) accountable for the life of prisoner Mohammed al-Khatib from the West Bank city of Tulkarem.
In a press statement on Monday the PPS stressed that the health of prisoner al-Khatib is rapidly deteriorating adding that he has been suffering from severe back pain.
PPS underlined that prisoner al-Khatib needs a new diagnosis as his latest one which was given two years ago is not accurate anymore affirming that the IPS is practicing systematic medical neglect against him.
In a related development the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees reported that the Etzion detention center where 28 Palestinian prisoners are held lacks basic human needs.
“Palestinian prisoners in Etzion detention center are held in unsanitary rooms” lawyer of the Commission Jacklin Fararja pointed out adding that the prisoners don’t get their basic needs such as hot water for bathing or enough food.
The Commission called on all international institutions including the International Committee of the Red Cross to act urgently to provide Palestinian prisoners with protection.
