Palestinian prisoners call for mass mobilization

Tuesday 7-March-2023

The Supreme National Emergency Committee of the Captive Movement called for mass mobilization in support of their protest steps on Tuesday.

The committee stressed the importance of participating in Tuesday’s solidarity vigils across the West Bank cities in support of the Palestinian prisoners.

Meanwhile Palestinian prisoners continued their protest steps for the 22nd day in a row in protest at the Israeli Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir’s strict measures imposed on them.

The Captive Movement had declared a set of protest steps in all Israeli prisons last month that include a mass disobedience and an open hunger strike next Ramadan.

According to the announcement the protest steps were in rejection of the Israeli punitive measures imposed against the prisoners since the right-wing minister Itamar Ben-Gvir was sworn in as national security minister in the new Israeli government.

The statement pointed out that the Palestinian prisoners are readying themselves for organized disobedience which they anticipate will escalate into a full-scale hunger strike.
