Senior Hamas official Hisham Qasem has affirmed that the regional and international attempts to end the Palestinian resistance of the Israeli occupation would be doomed to failure as happened in previous attempts.
“Any attempt regardless of its name and initiators to end the resistance and impede its natural trajectory towards the liberation of the occupied land and the holy sites will not succeed” Qasem said in press remarks on Sunday.
The Hamas official stressed the need for the Arab and Muslim nations to support the Palestinian people with all means in their natural struggle for the liberation of their land from the Israeli occupation.
In a related context Jordan hosted a meeting between top Israeli and Palestinian officials on Sunday to try to halt surging violence in the occupied territories.
According to the Jordanian media the meeting is part of stepped-up Jordanian diplomacy with Washington and Egypt to address violence as anxiety mounts of escalation in the run-up to the holy Muslim month of Ramadan that begins in late March.
The meeting at the Red Sea port of Aqaba brought together top Israeli and Palestinian security chiefs for the first time in many years Jordanian officials said adding that it was aimed to restore calm in the Israeli-occupied West Bank east Jerusalem and the besieged Gaza Strip.
US president Joe Biden’s Middle East adviser Brett McGurk attended the meeting along with Jordanian and Egyptian officials.
The talks come after the Israeli occupation forces killed 11 Palestinians including a child and three elderly people and wounded over 100 others last Wednesday during a military raid in the occupied West Bank city of Nablus.
