The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) forced on Saturday a Jerusalemite citizen to demolish his own house in Ein Luza neighborhood in the east Jerusalem district of Silwan.
The homeowner Mahmoud al-Awar said that he had to demolish a house he had built for his son Mohamed a long time ago after an Israeli court last year gave him until next Wednesday February 15 to comply with the measure otherwise he would be jailed for 200 days and pay a fine of 25000 shekels.
He affirmed that he had already submitted a request to the Israeli municipality to license the house but it was rejected while the court fined him twice after it postponed the demolition measure for some years.
Like in the West Bank the IOA systematically demolishes Palestinian homes and structures in east Jerusalem at the pretext of unlicensed construction while it prevents the local residents from obtaining permits or makes it difficult for them to meet construction conditions.
