The High Emergency Committee for the Palestinian Captive Movement declared a state of alert in Israeli jails and three days of mourning over the death of the prisoner Ahmed Abu Ali on Friday morning.
The Palestinian prisoners began refusing food in all Israeli prisons in protest against Abu Ali’s death who died in an Israeli hospital as a result of deliberate medical negligence.
Abu Ali a father of nine children was detained in 2012 and sentenced to 12 years in prison.
In detention he suffered from many health problems including chronic heart disease diabetes and obesity.
Since 1967 235 Palestinian prisoners died in Israeli jails including 75 who died from medical negligence
600 sick prisoners are currently held in Israeli jails including 24 cancer patients.
